And then there were three ......

And then there was this -

As you might guess, I seem to have a thing about pin cushions at the moment. So I've been playing around with some felt, buttons, beads, trims and crochet. And I've had plenty of fun doing it too as they're so quick and easy to make.

It all came about because I bought a copy of Pretty Little Pincushions which led me to Jen Segrest's blog and the pin cushion pool on Flickr. And an obsession was born.

Now I'm expanding my horizons beyond felt, LOL, and have signed up for the Pincushion Club at Quilt Fabric Delights which looks like more fun! And I have big plans for certain items from Pretty Little Patchwork ......

In other news, I've had an award from the lovely Elisa!

Thanks so much, Elisa! I'm really pleased that you like what you see here.

The rules of the award are simple:
1. The winner can display this award on their blog
2. Display a link to the person you have got the award from.
3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs, you like.
4. Set the links to the blogs on your blog.
5. Leave a comment on the blogs you have chosen.

It's so hard to choose just seven, but among my regular haunts at the moment are -

Janelle Wind
Leanne's House
Quilt Fabrics Direct
Laura J Perin
Lucy Locket
Cheryl's Clydeside Stitching
Barbara's Mainely Stitching

School holidays have started here so my son's at home now. My DH has also managed to get the school holiday off - it's a scary prospect to be spending the next 6 weeks with him! LOL! I don't think we've spent that much time together each day since we were students!

Rosy Ribbons Biscornu

I've been continuing to play around with a bit of ribbon embroidery and had a fancy to use ribbons in a biscornu. What do you think of the end result?

I started out with the chart for Carol Tinson's Peachy Biscornu which I stitched a while ago. I changed one of the floss colours to match the ribbons better and stitched the central flowery ring. In each of the corners of the top fabric square I then stitched a mixture of spider web roses and detached chain stitches to make a colourful, textured design. I deliberately made each corner slightly different, but using the same colours and stitches.

On the bottom fabric square I stitched a single spider web rose in each corner as they would be visible when the biscornu was made up.

When I whip stitched the two sides together, I added beads and Swarovski crystals as I wanted to give it a slightly luxurious look, which I think works quite well.

I'm pleased with the end result and although it's not perfect, it achieves what I set out to do.

This is so humiliating!

Now, that was fun, wasn't it?
